Its a Palindrome!
Why do I even still have this site?
I post to it MAYBE once a year. I remember a time when I was much more active online and I enjoyed futzing around on my own web server and participating in various online communities. There was even a time when it was my job.
Sometimes I wonder if I should continue paying for my hosting service and domain registrations, or if I should just tear it all down.
I made a thing!
Actually, I made two things:
The first is a quarter wave ground plane antenna for the 2m ham radio band.
It’s based on the instructions in this video by K7AGE
The second is a semi-portable PVC pole/stand to get the antenna about 8ft in the air.
My initial plan was to raise the antenna up 12ft, but my quick-and-dirty design made with lengths of ¾in PVC wasn’t stable enough to stand on its own. I have ideas for fixing that, but this shorter version worked well enough to participate in a ham net on a local repeater tonight.
I’m going to see if I can hit a couple of repeaters down in the Bay Area later this week using this set up.

Not quite dead yet…
Still very much alive and kicking, just not spending much time online as of late. (As evidenced by my general lack of posting, anywhere.)

Looks like the comment spammers have found my blog again. I’ve gotten several new comments today that are being held for moderation. Sometimes I pull the links and what not out and allow them through. I don’t feel like doing that today, so off to the delete queue with you, spammers!
If I don’t write this, it will bug me all day
I’m supposed to be writing test documentation reports right now. Only I’ve got the beginnings of some dumb parody song stuck in my head.
Squiddo is selling chocolate to raise money for summer camp. I brought one of the boxes to work. On the way in, before I dropped the boys off at school, “Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?” came up on the shuffled play lists. So of course my brain started coming up with alternate lyrics. I need to push this off the stack so I can go back to the reports I’ve got to get done.
